Non-GMO Soup Bases and Flavor Concentrates

Are you looking to satisfy growing consumer demand for non-GMO offerings in your food products or foodservice menu?

Industry analysts predict the non-GMO foods could represent 30% of the market by 2015—or 40% if GMO labeling takes hold, says Food Navigator. When it comes to defining ingredients: A non-GMO plant-based ingredient uses no genetically modified crops. A non-GMO animal ingredient, such as meat or dairy, comes from animals that have never been fed genetically modified feed.

About 94% of soy, 90% of canola, and 88% of corn grown in the U.S. is genetically modified, reports the Non-GMO Project. This means that ingredients such as oils, lecithin, soy protein isolate, corn syrup, cornstarch, poultry or meat products, and many more are undergoing scrutiny in the marketplace in response to consumer demand.

Choosing Non-GMO Soup Bases and Flavor Bases

If you are trying to gain a competitive advantage with non-GMO, here are a few things you should know about choosing non-GMO products for your food formulations or foodservice recipes:

  • Natural foods are not necessarily free of GMOs. (“Natural” has no legal definition.)

  • Ingredient sourcing is key. Due to our extensive non-GMO sourcing, many conventional soup and flavor bases from Integrative Flavors are 100% non- GMO. See our complete Soup Base and Flavor Concentrate Product List for details.
